The conference is organized as part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering and in honor of the late doc. Ing. Vladimír Krajča, CSc.

Three best student presentations will be awarded. The best presentation will receive the award of doc. Krajča.

The conference programme is now available!

Registrations for passive participation are still open.

Assoc. Prof. Vladimír Krajča focused on research in the field of neurological data processing, and was passionate about his work. Throughout his active career, he was the principal investigator and co-investigator of numerous research projects, both domestic and international. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied at the University of Florida in the USA. Throughout his career, he received multiple awards for his scientific publications. In total, he contributed to more than 30 publications indexed in the WoS and SCOPUS databases, with a cumulative h-index of 12.

He made a significant impact in the field of clinical engineering in the Czech Republic. His contributions were particularly notable in practice-oriented research and the development of original systems for computer-assisted processing and analysis of biological signals, including their implementation in clinical practice. One of his major successes was the software “Wave-Finder” for EEG analysis, which has been used in more than 100 hospitals and clinics in the Czech Republic and in over 10 countries worldwide.

In collaboration with leading psychiatrists in the Czech Republic, he introduced the use of EEG cordance parameter into clinical practice. This was done in cooperation with the Psychiatric Center in Prague, making it the second institution in the world to adopt this method. The significance of EEG cordance lies in its ability to predict brain responses to antidepressants long before the clinical effects, which typically emerge only after six weeks. His publication on this topic, published in the prestigious journal European Psychiatry, remains his most frequently cited work.

In 2009, assoc. Prof. Krajča joined the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University (CTU), specifically the Department of Biomedical Technology. Thanks to his immense dedication, he helped establish key courses for future biomedical technicians and engineers. His concurrent professional activities, extensive experience from the Neurology Department at FN Bulovka, and collaborations with leading Czech figures in psychiatry and neurology enabled him to engage students in solving real-world problems. These efforts culminated in the founding of the successful scientific research group BRAIN Team.
